Vulnerability Management · Hands-on Course

Get hired into a vulnerability management role.

Vulnerability management is one of the most reliable ways into cyber security, and one of the least taught. This course trains you on the real workflow: scan, validate, prioritize by risk, drive remediation, and report it. You leave with proof you can do the job.

Taught by Mano Nathan · CISSP · 20+ years in technology and cyber security · former vulnerability-scanner vendor technical account manager

Why this role, why now

A steady door into security that most training ignores.

It hires consistently

Every organization with computers has vulnerabilities to manage. The work is constant, the demand is steady, and far fewer people train for it than for pen testing or SOC work.

Your IT past counts

If you have patched servers, run systems, or supported infrastructure, you already know the hardest half of the job: fixing things. We teach you the security half.

You build real proof

By the end you have scanned a live lab, prioritized findings by business risk, and written the remediation report that wins the interview. Not a certificate. A deliverable.

Two tracks · pick where you start

One course, two starting lines.

Same destination, different entry point. If security and IT are both new to you, start with Foundations. If you have worked in IT and want to move sideways into security, the Fast-Track skips the primer and gets straight to the vulnerability-management skills employers screen for.

Track A · 6 weeks

Foundations

For beginners: new to both IT and security, or coming from a non-technical background.

Small-group cohort · one 90-minute session per week · homework between · no prior experience assumed

01Systems & networking primerPorts, protocols, how Windows and Linux work, what a "vulnerability" actually is.
02Vulnerability fundamentalsCVE, CVSS, EPSS, and the CISA KEV list. The vulnerability lifecycle end to end.
03Meet the scannerInstall a scanner, run your first scan, read the output without panicking.
04Validating findingsReal vulnerability or false positive? Confirm by hand before anyone acts.
05Prioritizing & fixingRisk-based prioritization, patching basics, compensating controls.
06Reporting & interviewBuild the report, then a recorded mock interview with written feedback.
Lab: free scanner (Nessus Essentials) against a safe practice target you set up with me. No paid tools required.
What you walk away with

Proof, not just knowledge.

01A completed scan of a real (safe) lab environment you can talk through in an interview.
02A prioritized remediation report with business context, the single most useful artifact for landing this role.
03A resume rewritten to position your experience for a vulnerability management job, ATS-tested, no fabrication.
04A recorded mock interview with written feedback, drilling the questions this role actually asks.
05A study roadmap for the certifications that matter for this lane (Security+, a scanner vendor cert, CySA+).

Questions

Straight answers.

Which track am I in?

If you have worked in IT (sysadmin, support, networking, infrastructure, cloud), take Fast-Track. If IT and security are both new to you, take Foundations. Not sure? That is exactly what the free intro call is for, and I will tell you honestly.

Is this one-on-one or a group?

A small-group cohort with capped seats, so you get live instruction and peers going through it with you, at a fraction of one-on-one cost. If you want fully personalized one-on-one coaching instead, ask on the intro call and I'll point you to that option.

Do I need to buy expensive tools?

No. The whole course runs on free tools (Nessus Essentials and open-source practice targets) and a lab we set up together. No license purchases, no cloud bills.

Will this get me certified?

The course is not a certification exam. It is job-readiness training with a proof-of-skill artifact, plus a roadmap for the certs that help in this lane. Employers hire on the artifact and the interview; the certs get you past the first filter.

Can you guarantee a job?

No, and be careful of anyone who does. What I guarantee is that you will finish with a real scan, a real report, a repositioned resume, and interview practice, so nothing avoidable stands between you and the offer.

Who is teaching this?

Mano Nathan, CISSP, 20+ years in technology and cyber security, including time as a technical account manager for a leading vulnerability-scanner vendor. I have run this workflow from the vendor side and the practitioner side.
